Society6 Reviews: I Examined 1,452 Customer Reviews & Ratings!
Society6 is an online store (headquartered in California, United States) that is best known for its trendy, print-on-demand art prints and helpful customer service.
But Society6 is more than just a place to shop for high-quality art prints.
Since 2017, Society6 has been one of my favorite online stores to shop for all kinds of iPhone cases, photo prints, home decor, t-shirts, dresses, face masks, shower curtains, comforters, and other original products designed by independent artists from around the globe.
Overall, I’ve had many great experiences with Society6 and, in my opinion, they get an A+. (I bought my first Society6 art print by Cat Coquillette in 2017, and I’ve been buying so much stuff from Society6 ever since!)
So I thought I would take some time to read what 1,452 customers[RES] had to say about Society6, summarize their pros and (mostly) their cons, plus add my own experience with Society6 in this post.
Society6 has a consumer rating of 4.32 stars from 1,449 reviews indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Consumers satisfied with Society6 most frequently mention customer service, full refund and wrong size…Sitejabber 
In previous years, there were a few complaints about Society6’s customer service.
Yet, lately, their customer service is kicking major butt!
They go above and beyond what most customers expect.
Hundreds of customers raved at how quickly they received replies to their concerns.
By reading the customer’s comments, it was obvious that the customer service team made a lot of people happy. Helpful and professional, customer service receives an A++.
Amazing customer service! I ordered 7 framed posters and one of the frames was different from the others and within 24hrs, someone wrote back not only confirming my refund for the incorrectly framed poster is on the way, but telling me to not worry about returning it and to keep or donate it!Jesse S. on August 10th, 2019 
Every time I have ever had an issue with my order (which has only been about 3 times over the years I have bought things from this site) customer support is very fast in responding and addressing the issue right away, they always offer replacement at no additional cost. Does Society6 Have a Phone Number?
A source of frustration for a few customers is that Society6 doesn’t list their phone numbers.
The best option to contact them is to fill out a request form on their website.
The majority of reviewers said that customer service was very quick to reply, even on a Friday night.
But there were a few customers who complained of not receiving replies at all. These types of complaints were rare, soo it’s safe to assume that these people were having some kind of technical issue. (I never once had a problem getting a response from customer service. And, they really are great people.)
If you find yourself in a situation where you can’t connect with a customer representative, keep these tips in mind:
- Double-check your email address when filling out the contact form.
- If you contact customer support and you don’t receive a reply, check your junk mail.
- Still no reply? Sometimes emails can get blocked by spam filters. Try emailing them again using a popular email service like Gmail or Outlook. Or send them a message on Facebook or Twitter.
Company: Return Policy
Many customers who got defective products got refunds or replacements without any difficulty. Many reviewers also said they got to keep the original items.
So what happens if you buy something that you love from Society6, but don’t really like it when you see it in real life? What happens if the item you bought is the wrong color or size?
In this situation, reviewers also said they got a refund or replacement without difficulty.
The best part?
Customer service sometimes told customers to keep the original product.
I have ordered a lot through this company and they are quite amazing to deal with. The only negative is how long delivery takes but it’s worth it to work with them. If you order things to try and they don’t work or you don’t like them, this is a company that will tell you to keep it and donate it as opposed to having to return the items. I find that amazing! No matter the issue, customer service went beyond the customers’ expectations. The process of receiving replacements or refunds was hassle-free. No questions asked.
Artists & Product Pricing
Society6 gives artists the freedom to markup art prints, framed prints, and canvas prints. All other products have set prices, which keeps the prices down compared to other e-commerce art sites, like Redbubble.
I find most items on Society6.com are fairly priced, but some reviewers complained about prices.
When buying an item from Society6, you have to keep in mind that you are not only buying a regular “consumer product”. You are also buying an artist’s work.
Most customers had great things to say about the quality of the products they received.
From reading all those reviews, it’s obvious to me that Society6 is putting a real effort into bringing quality products to their customers.
What about the stuff that went wrong?
Here are a few things to look out for when ordering from Society6.
Print Quality of Art / Designs
The print quality of the art/design on any Society6 product is going to be greatly influenced by the image the artist uploaded to the site.
A few reviewers mentioned the designs/art printed on the items were either pixelated or blurry. Although this was a rare occurrence, if this happens to you, just ask customer service for a refund.
In my opinion it’s not IF you had issues with your order — it is HOW the company handled the issue. There was an issue with the print on the mat, contacted the company, sent pictures. In a few days got a nice email from David apologizing for the inconvenience — asking if I would like a refund or replacement. I chose refund because it was a gift, and there was no time to wait for a replacement. But issue was handled well and quickly. There were also the rare few who mentioned receiving prints with black ink spots. A couple of reviewers mentioned receiving products with stains or smudges. These blemishes might have been subtle, but still there.
There were two reviewers stating that part of the print on the product was cut off (probably due to an oversight on the artist’s part).
Either way, customer service still won the hearts of those whose items were less than perfect.
I ordered 90 dollars with of art prints and when they got here they weren’t the quality I was quite expecting so I asked to return them. According to the majority of reviewers, the quality of the art prints was impressive. However, when ordering art prints – framed or unframed – here is a warning:
The size of the print INCLUDES the white border around the artwork.
For example, the website states that the mini unframed art print is 8″ x 8″. The paper is, in fact, this size. But you have to take into account that the white border is 1 inch all around. So the actual artwork will only be 7″ x 7″.
Most art prints will include a white border that measures around 3.5 inches.
So keep this in mind if you’re looking to buy wall art from Society6.
T-Shirts and Hoodies (Size)
One thing to look out for when purchasing t-shirts and hoodies, for both men and women, are the sizes. They’re printed on American Apparel branded garments which run a little small. You might want to order 1 size up. So make sure to check the sizing info available on every product page.

I had ordered a tank top from here and while the quality of the shirt was good it didn’t fit right. When I contacted them about it I was refunded my money with no questions asked, they didn’t even ask me to return the shirt. All Over Print Shirts (Print Quality)
Updated April 9, 2019: Their “All Over Print Shirts” are now replaced by their NEW All Over Graphic Tees. And these are MUCH better because they feature original art from seam to seam!
I would NOW recommend these shirts because they’re much better quality.
(But I’ll leave my old review for you guys just in case you want to read it).
One major issue with the All Over Print Shirts is that the print isn’t actually 100% all over the shirt.
If the background of the design isn’t white, there are white marks left at the seams under the arms and sides. At first glance, it almost looks like deodorant marks.
Society6 does warn customers of this issue on their website:
So would I recommend this shirt to a friend?
The only way I would recommend this item is if the background of the artwork is white.
Carry-All Pouches (Print Quality)
Here’s a warning if you’re considering buying a small-sized carry-all pouch:
The artwork on the small pouches will be cropped a bit more than the image shown on the website.
Wall Tapestries (Product Quality)
When I think of wall tapestries, I think of thick woven fabric. So I thought I would mention that Society6’s tapestries are not that. The fabric was thinner than I expected but they still look great and make amazing gifts for teens or college students!
These wall tapestries are printed fabric sheets with hand-sewn edges and they’re one of Society6’s most popular items.
iPhone Cases (Product Quality)
The majority of reviewers loved the fit and the quality of the iPhone designs. But if they had a complaint, it was this one:
Society6 slim iPhone cases are actually really thin.
A lot of customers prefer a slim case. But if you are looking for a case with more weight and texture, this is not the case for you.
If you’re looking for protection, the tough cases have a rubber bumper that extends a few millimeters above the phone. They also have adventure cases available for even more protection.
Hand, Bath & Beach Towels (Product Quality)
Society6’s hand & bath towels and beach towels run on the thin side. So these towels aren’t for you if you’re looking for thick, fluffy towels.
Also, be aware that the towels are only printed on one side. The other side is white.
Contact Society6’s Customer Service With Any Complaints
If you receive a product that’s imperfect in any way or not to your liking, contact customer service.
From all the customer reviews I’ve read, I’m convinced that Society6’s customer service will want you to be happy with the quality of your products!
Shipping From an Online, Print on Demand Store
Society6 products are made and shipped from different locations in the United States.
I didn’t find that customers complained about shipping prices. This might be because free shipping offers are sometimes advertised on their homepage. (Sometimes you’ll only see free shipping offers once you add items in your shopping cart and go to purchase the items.)
If there is no free shipping offer, the website displays shipping prices before you buy. All you have to do is add a product to your cart and select the destination country.
Just keep in mind that if you buy anything from an online store from outside of the United States, sometimes you get a little extra with your order.

I can’t say enough about this site. I am addicted. It would be nice to know ahead of time which items may be charged duty, but it’s never been cost-prohibitive, so I am not overly concerned by that. I have ordered phone cases, travel mugs, carry-all cases, blanket, pillows, notebooks, masks… I said I was addicted, right! Receiving Your Society6 Order
On their website, Society6 has the following information:
- Shipping to the USA takes an average of 5-10 days. Orders are shipped by USPS.
- Shipping wall prints, mugs, and notebooks to Australia take 5-10 days. Orders are shipped by Australian Post.
- All other International shipping takes 1-3 weeks and is shipped by the Local Postal Service.
However, by reading the reviews, this is what I could gather:
Society6’s Shipping Time Within the United States
All Society6 orders take 1 to 3 business days for production time, plus delivery time.
If you live in the Contiguous United States, you can expect your order to arrive within 2 weeks.
Society6’s International Shipping Time
International shipments generally take between 1 to 3 weeks to be delivered.
However, a few international reviewers mentioned having to wait 4 to 5 weeks for their order. Delivery time depends on the destination country and delays at Customs. The latter being something Society6 can’t control.
I wasn’t surprised when I read international customers complain about delivery time.
Unfortunately, this is the fact:
Cheap or Free Shipping = Waiting for Awhile
But, on the plus side, all customers receive tracking numbers with their orders.
Due to unfortunate issues with the local post carrier, a mug I ordered from Society6 was returned to sender twice before reaching me, in excellent condition, on the third try. The customer service representatives were very patient during the ordeal and offered to resend the package, twice, free of charge. I never had to wait long for their replies, which were always friendly and showed eagerness to solve the problem. Excellent and pleasant service altogether.Amanda R. on June 26th, 2018 
Complaints: Damaged/Lost Orders
There were some complaints about damaged or lost orders, many of which appeared to be the mail carrier’s fault. Since Society6 doesn’t hire or fire employees at the shipping company, we can’t really fault Society6. Shipping mishaps happen to all online art stores.
When it comes to these unfortunate shipping situations, the question is this:
If there is a mishap while your order is being shipped, how will customer service fix the issue?
This is where Society6 won the hearts of many. According to the customers’ comments, they are quick to send replacements.
Kudos to the customer service team for doing an excellent job.

I’m really satisfied with Society6 so far. I heard about them from a friend of mine when I told her I was looking for art prints for my home. The site is easy to search, and has inspired me to think of creative ways to decorate. I ordered 5 prints, and they were delivered into my mailbox. Expecting to receive a package, I thought the prints were shipped to wrong place. When I emailed, Society6 immediately sent a new package. Customers’ Experience: Society6 Orders & Holidays
Every year, in December and early January, the complaints about receiving Society6 orders are at an all-time high. It didn’t surprise me one bit since this happens to most e-commerce sites during the holidays.
Time Sensitive Orders + Christmas + Online Shopping + A Gazillion Online Shoppers = CRAZINESS!!!
So, as you probably already have guessed, the complaints were mostly from customers who didn’t get their orders in time for Christmas.
The holidays are a busy time of year for any successful online store. Society6 included! Shipping companies and Customs can also get swamped during this time.
Here’s some advice from someone with tons of shipping experience:
If you’re buying gifts for Christmas on Society6 (or anywhere online), shop EARLY.
If you buy Christmas gifts from Society6, it’s a good idea to order by the beginning of November. This gives you PLENTY of time if there’s some kind of processing or shipping setback.
It’s possible to purchase something from Society6 in December and receive it on time for Christmas. It’s just that I, personally, would not take the risk.
Overview: My Opinion of Society6 + Star Rating
So, is Society6.com a safe site to buy from? Definitely!
Would I recommend Society6 to my friends and family? Absolutely, YES! I love Society6!
My friends and I have been shopping on Society6 for years and we absolutely love the quality of the items.
My personal rating of Society6’s product quality is 4.5 out of 5 stars. I only took out half star for the few tiny, minor things that went wrong, as explained above.
And, what’s my overall impression of Society6’s customer service?
After reading 1,452 customer reviews, I believe that Society6 makes an effort to make customers happy.
This is especially evident when customers leave complaints online. Society6 politely reaches out to these customers and offers to fix the problem.
