Are you thinking of buying a rug from Society6 but you’re wondering what they’re like? Then this post is for you!
I’ll admit that, at first, I wasn’t a fan of these rugs. Back in 2017, I actually wrote a Society6 review where I didn’t recommend them for most people.
And now, in 2020?
In June 2019, I noticed that Society6 introduced their new rugs and I like them so much more than the rugs I bought a few years ago.
I’ve already bought 4 of their new rugs and there’s definitely things I love about them and things that I think you should know before you buy one.
So to help you decide whether you should buy one or not, here is my updated Society6 rug review.
Quality of Print
I absolutely love the quality of the print on these rugs. The colors are vibrant and the artwork is sharper than I would have expected for a rug.
The only thing bad I can say about the quality of the print is that IF an artist submits a low-quality image, you might find the print to be blurry or pixelated. I haven’t had that experience with a rug yet, and I find that (compared to other similar sites) the vast majority of the artists are very professional when it comes to the quality of their work.
So, I wouldn’t worry about the quality of the print too much. But if there’s a problem, you definitely tell Society6’s customer service team and you’ll be AMAZED at how they’ll bend over backward just to make sure YOU’RE HAPPY. Seriously. Not even a joke. They’re absolutely one of the greatest customer service team in the business. So, go ahead and order a rug if you think you’d really like it. It’s risk-free.
Quality of Material
I find these rugs have a nice soft and textured look. I definitely find that the price is fair for the quality and durability of the rug.
The print is only on the top of the rug. The backing of the rug is made of a really nice gray and white canvas type material, and the edges look to be professionally sewn and well finished. (The edges of the rugs USED TO BE a bit crooked, but Society6 fixed this with their improved rugs. Now the edges are straight!)
The older version of Society6’s rugs were much thinner. They were way too thin for my liking. But now, the rugs have a better thickness to them.
That being said… I still really like a super THICK rug like the ones from the Safavieh California Premium Shag Collection (see image on Amazon). This is especially true for my bedroom and living room, where I want a cozy feeling. Society6 rugs are not that.
So, even though I wouldn’t want these rugs for my own bedroom or living room, I have been using them in my kitchen, my front entrance, my bathroom, and my laundry room. These rugs are the perfect thickness so that you can open doors and the rugs won’t get bunched up or stop the door from opening and closing.
Another reason I love these rugs for these rooms is that they’re so easy to clean compared to regular, thick rugs. You can vacuum them no problem, and if they get dirty you can wipe them using soap, water, and a cloth.
Non-Slip Rug Pads
These rugs don’ts include non-slip rug pads and you might find these rugs slip around a bit, especially on smooth surfaces like hardwood floors. So you might want to buy a non-slip rug pad, like a Gorilla Grip area rug gripper pad (see images on Amazon).
Conclusion: Society6 Rug Review
So would I recommend the Society6 rug review to my family and friends?
Em… Yes, and no.
I, personally, don’t find these rugs to be the cozy kind of rugs that I love to have under my feet when I’m relaxing in my living room or bedroom. In those cases, I want a rug that thick and plush.
However, I LOVE Society6 rugs in every other room, including my laundry room, kitchen, bathroom, entrance, and high-traffic spaces where you need an easily cleanable rug.
So go ahead and find Society6 rugs that are uniquely you, support independent artists, and (most importantly) HAVE FUN shopping!
