My place looks like a gallery, I have an art blog about my online shopping experiences, and everyone who gets a gift from me already knows it’s going to be art-related.

I also spent over a decade researching thousands of customer reviews about art sites. So, I finally decided to combine this information and my shopping experience in this post to show you my favorite art sites.

Oh! And the best part about this list?

This list was created for people who want to buy affordable art from the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, and everywhere else in the world!!!

Enjoy!

Best Websites to Buy Art

1. Etsy

Paintings, prints, photos, sculptures, drawings, digital prints, and more!

About Etsy

Etsy is a company based in the United States with a well-earned reputation for being a fun way for people to order a variety of vintage and homemade items, including affordable pieces from artists worldwide.

They also offer so many other handmade and vintage items, such as jewelry & accessories, clothing, home decor, wedding supplies, craft supplies, and so much more!

What I likeWhat I Don’t Like
You can buy directly from independent artisans worldwide. Not all sellers ship internationally.
They have an amazing review system. You can read about the quality of items sold and people’s shopping experiences with specific sellers.
When you find something you really like, but it’s being sold by a new seller, there won’t be any reviews about the seller and the quality of the items they’re selling.
You’ll find a variety of prices, but most items are low-priced ($$ – $$$).
Etsy’s customer support is also very reliable, and ready to help if a dispute happens between a seller and buyer.

2. Redbubble

Click the image to see the art that’s TRENDING RIGHT NOW on Redbubble!

Items Sold:

Framed and unframed prints, canvas prints, metal prints, photographic prints, posters, and over 40 different items printed with artists’ designs.

About Redbubble

Items sold include things like wall art, phone cases, laptop skins, laptop sleeves, stickers, greeting cards, home decor, stationery, bags, clothing, and more!

Wondering where they’re located?

Redbubble is truly a worldwide marketplace. They have a global network of manufacturers and they ship from the United States, the UK, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, and Hong-Kong.

I think it’s worth mentioning that this company has a younger demographic than all the other stores mentioned on this page.

What I LikeWhat I Don’t Like
Redbubble is known to have a lot of items directed to fans of celebrities, sports teams, tv shows, movies, memes, etc. So if you’re a fan of something or someone, then you should definitely check out that website. The sides of the canvas prints are left white (the design doesn’t wrap around).
The artists set the prices, but most items are very affordable ($ – $$$).Redbubble only has customer reviews for products, but they don’t have reviews for specific designs. Although, sometimes you can see reviews about a particular design in the artists’ comments section.
Redbubble is responsible for international shipping and customer service, and they do not disappoint!

3. Amazon Handmade

Click the image to see the art that’s TRENDING RIGHT NOW on Amazon Handmade!

Items Sold:

Paintings, prints, posters, photos, drawings, mixed media, and other handmade items.

About Amazon Handmade

If you’ve never heard of Amazon before, then you might be living under a rock. But most people don’t know that they have a new separate department called Amazon Handmade.

Very similar to Etsy, Amazon Handmade is a store within Amazon where artists can sell their handcrafted pieces.

You can also order items that are “fulfilled by Amazon“. This means that Amazon will be responsible for shipping and customer service.

Amazon Handmade also offers so many other handcrafted items, such as jewelry, home decor, kitchen accessories, clothing, accessories, a wedding shop, and a handmade gift shop, and so much more!

What I LikeWhat I Don’t Like
Similar to Etsy, you can buy directly from independent artisans worldwide. But I also like the option to buy items fulfilled by Amazon (a very trusted company).Amazon Handmade doesn’t have as many items for sale as compared to Etsy, but it’s still fairly new.
This website is also known for its amazing review system, so even if you order directly from an artist, you’ll know what you’re getting into. When you find something you really like, but it’s being sold by a new seller without reviews (and not fulfilled by Amazon) it’s hard to trust that you’ll get a high-quality item with good customer service.
You’ll find a variety of prices, but most items are very low-priced ($$ – $$$).
Most artists ship worldwide.
Amazon’s customer support is amazing!

What I LikeWhat I Don’t Like
You get a lot of bang for your buck. The prices are amazingly cheap, but the quality remains very high. You’ll usually find discounts on iCanvas.I wish the canvases would come with two hangers, instead of one, to keep it hanging straight all the time.
They ship internationally but if you’re in the United States you can enjoy FREE shipping.iCanvas has a lot of reviews for the company as a whole, but there’s not a lot of reviews for specific artwork or designs yet (like Etsy or Amazon does).

Framed and unframed prints, wall hangings, posters, canvas prints, metal prints, wood wall art, and over 60 different items printed with the artists’ designs.

About Society6

Very similar to Redbubble, Society6 offers a variety of affordable prints and over 60 different imprinted items, promoting emerging artists from all over the world.

This site also offers many different items printed with the artists’ designs, like furniture, home decor, pillows, bedding, bath accessories, phone cases, laptop sleeves, laptop skins, stickers, stationery, clothes, mugs, coasters, bags, and more.

One key thing I want to mention is that I find that Society6, compared to Redbubble, has a more mature demographic.

Click here to see what’s TRENDING RIGHT NOW on Society6!

What I LikeWhat I Don’t Like
I don’t know why or how they did it, but I find the designs on Society6 to be extra remarkable. They’re really attracting some incredibly talented artists. One thing I don’t like is that their small carry-all pouches are cropped slightly more than the image shown on Society6’s product images.
Society6 sets the prices for most items (except for some of the art prints), but most items are very affordable ($ – $$$).I’m not a fan of the rugs because they’re so thin and more like a thick piece of fabric. I also don’t find the sides of the rugs are 100% straight (but I’m really picky).
You can read reviews on the site. You can find out what other shoppers think of Society6’s products. They’ve also begun allowing people to review specific designs. The hand, bath, and beach towels seem to run on the thin side as well. I’m a fan of thick, fluffy towels. Another thing is that the design is only printed on one side of the towels, and the other side is white (but that doesn’t really bother me too much).
Society6 is responsible for international shipping and their customer service team is known to be one of the best and kindest teams out there (and I agree). If your order is to be delivered outside of the United States, you might be waiting a while. International shipping usually takes 1-3 weeks, but I’ve read reviews where customers said that they had to wait up to 5 weeks to receive their order.

7. Minted

Click the image to see the art that’s featured on Minted right now!

Items Sold:

Framed and unframed limited edition prints, canvas prints, children’s art (from nursery to teen), photography, and over 60 different stationery and invitations printed with the artists’ designs.

About Minted

Based in the United States, Minted known for its beautifully designed invitations and stationery, but they also offer wall art as well!

Minted is one of the most interesting American companies I’ve come across in awhile.

One of the most interesting aspects of this company is that they hold regular design contests that are open for ANYONE to submit their work. And then anyone, INCLUDING YOU, can act as a judge and rate the artists’ submissions.

Minted is basically using consumer votes to help predict the next best-seller!

Not only do winning artists win a cash prize, but then they keep earning royalties from the sales of their designs on Minted.

More than 2,000 designs are submitted by artists to Minted every week. So start voting or browse the site to find art that you love!

What I LikeWhat I Don’t Like
I love their curated/crowdsourcing business model. The consumers decide which designs are featured on Minted.com! How cool is that?Their site can be a little glitchy at times, especially while making invitations.
I love that they have a page with a list of all their active coupon codes. I especially love the FREE shipping and returns (this specific promotion is for within the US only).
You can buy original artwork made just for you, starting at $79 US!
You can text a photo of your wall and a Minted stylist will text you back fine art recommendations that would fit and look great! And it’s FREE! (Learn more about this service.)
Minted is in charge of manufacturing, shipping, and customer service.

8. Saatchi Art

Click the image to see the art that’s TRENDING RIGHT NOW on Saatchi Art!

Items Sold:

Original paintings, photography, drawings, sculptures, prints, and limited edition prints.

About Saatchi Art

This last art site I want to talk about is also from the United States.

In an effort to duplicate the experience and culture of a traditional gallery, all pieces are viewed and categorized by the Saatchi Art’s curators.

These curators also look out for pieces that are particularly remarkable and worth featuring in their catalog.

This website focuses on paintings, limited editions (my favorite), and other original art from artists worldwide.

They also offer a FREE beginner-friendly advisory service to help people interested in investing in art.

Click here to see what’s TRENDING RIGHT NOW on Saatchi Art!

What I LikeWhat I Don’t Like
They feature a lot of emerging artists that come from all around the world.Compared to the other sites mentioned in this article, the prices are much higher ($$$-$$$$). But, if you want to buy art as an investment, this is definitely the place to go.
Compared to traditional galleries, the prices are fairly low and the shipping cost is already included in the price of the artwork. They offer excellent customer service, but shipping is the artists’ responsibility. This is a little problematic because Saatchi Art doesn’t have a review system where customers can review specific artists on their customer service.
Professionally curated, I think they’re one of the easiest and most convenient places to invest in art and start a collection. And they’re very helpful to beginner collectors.
I love FREE advisory service, which helps you pick out the perfect piece for your space and personality.
Video: About Saatchi Art

And, last but not least, I want to mention Artfinder and 20×200.

I’ve never bought anything from Artfinder and 20×200 yet, but just like the sites mentioned on this page, these websites are rising in popularity.

So, I’ll definitely be looking at reviewing Artfinder and 20×200 someday (hopefully sooner than later).

9. Artfinder

Artfinder was founded in 2011 and is based in the UK and the United States. They offer original paintings, sculptures, limited edition prints, and photography directly from independent artists.

10. 20×200

20×200 was founded in 2007 and is based in the United States. They offer limited-edition prints by emerging, established, and legendary artists.

Here’s a quick recap of what I discussed in this post:

If you’re looking to buy unique art directly from artists from around the world, I would definitely check out Etsy or Amazon Handmade. These are also the perfect spots to find customized gifts for those who seem to have everything.

When it comes to buying canvas or framed prints, I really like iCanvas because the prices are just so amazing and it’s hard to beat their free shipping service in the United States.

For your office or anybody looking to chase after their dreams, I would head over to Inktuitive. Plus, they have free shipping worldwide. How can you beat that?!!

Another place I’ve recently like to buy prints is Minted. They’re a little more expensive, but the quality is excellent and their prints are limited editions.

For the rest of the printed artwork I buy, including metal prints and imprinted items like t-shirts or phone cases, I definitely choose Society6 and Redbubble.

I don’t see much of a difference between Society6 and Redbubble, except that Redbubble seems to have a younger demographic, and Society6 has a more mature demographic. But I’ll usually search both sites until I find the artwork I want, and I’ll go from there.

Since it’s a bit more expensive on Saatchi Art, I only purchase art from this site when I’m buying art as an investment. But that’s just me. I usually love to buy cheap (but high-quality) art because I love a good sale.

So go ahead and find art that’s uniquely you, support independent artists, and (most importantly) HAVE FUN shopping!
